ZIEGI BOSS

About

Ziegi Boss is a visual artist and curator based in Vienna, Austria. Originally from the United States, she has lived and worked in Vienna since 2014.

Boss’s artistic practice examines how systems designed to measure, optimize, or regulate value—including productivity tools, digital platforms, and institutional structures—shape perception, behavior, and self-understanding. Working across installation, video, performance, and data-driven processes, she treats these systems as both subject and method: inhabiting them, exaggerating them, and translating their logics into aesthetic form. Humor and absurdity operate alongside critique, making visible the often invisible pressures embedded in contemporary cultures of optimization.

Since 2022, Boss has served as co-founder and director of VCAS – Vienna Contemporary Art Space, an independent nonprofit arts organization. Through VCAS, she develops exhibitions, public programs, and international collaborations, using curatorial and organizational work as expanded sites of inquiry.
