ZIEGI BOSS

About

Ziegi Boss is a visual artist originally from the USA, and has been living and working in Vienna, Austria since 2014. She completed her Bachelor of Arts from Wake Forest University, graduating Magna cum Laude with Honors in Fine Art. After moving to Austria, she has been living and working from her artistic practice, and has exhibited her work internationally in Europe, the USA and Asia. Boss has also co-founded and is the president of the arts organization VCAS - Vienna Contemporary Art Space, through which she has organized and curated art events and projects.

In her own artistic practice she works primarily with installation, video and performance. Many of her themes explore the implicit social norms that filter our perception of our own or other’s value and worth, even when these norms themselves are outdated and perhaps even nonsensical. She challenges concepts around gender roles, societal messaging, and the lens through which value and worth are determined. Her artworks often blur the line between humor and confrontation, and express the violence and absurdity involved in the enforcement of these social norms.
